… is Cottenham’s first Plastic Free Business Champion. We were delighted to present Vicky Lacey with the Surfers Against Sewage award in recognition of their efforts to minimise plastic use in their business.
“As organic farmers we see first-hand the impact single-use plastics can have on wildlife, livestock and soils, and we’re concerned about their global impact too. We’ve committed to avoiding single-use plastics where we can, starting with our campsite. We’ve switched to refillable shampoo, shower gel, soap and hand sanitiser in dispensers, much of which we are able to buy locally in bulk refill containers. We’ve sourced firewood that doesn’t come in plastic nets, and we provide reusable cups, plates and cutlery so that guests don’t need to bring disposables. It’s great to have the support of Sustainable Cottenham and we’d encourage other businesses to download the Business Toolkit from Surfers Against Sewage and see what they can do too.”
Well done Vicky and team and let’s hope you are the first of many businesses taking this approach in Cottenham.
