A MASSIVE thank you to all the lovely volunteers who turned out today and gave their time to help with our Swish event - it couldn't have happened without you! We're also grateful to Cottenham Village Hall who kindly selected us as their charity to receive a free hire this year, Cambridge Carbon Footprint for the use of their Swish kit and CPS PTCA for providing refreshments - we're glad to hear they raised over £50.We took in 191kg of clothing and swapped 145.5kg of it - a whopping 76%! This is an amazing win for keeping clothes in circulation locally. Given the huge amount of resources (land, water, energy and labour) which go into clothing production and how many end up in landfill, reducing consumption of new clothes is an important way to reduce our environmental footprint and tackle climate change. We have 45.5kg of clothes left which will be donated to the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity shop (don't worry, they know it's coming!).See you all at our next events which are the Repair Cafe and Litter Pick - both on the same day 22nd November! ...
